The Home of the National Western has some Changes Coming

The National Western Stock Show partnered with Colorado State university to completely renovate the stock show grounds.

After multiple qualified individuals surveyed the grounds, they came to the conclusion that the grounds were no longer competitive. It is a priority for the city of Denver to have competitive venues so in the summer of 2022, ground will be breaking for the brand-new livestock Center.

Among the many great new additions will be a 5,000-seat arena and 20,000 square foot of livestock barns allowing for expansion of their livestock show. The first phase is already complete and consisted of a new stockyard where exhibitors have power and hot water in all their pens. It also included a stockyards event center.

“It is the most celebrated new venue in the livestock world, and it will change forever how livestock are marketed and sold,” said Paul Andrews, President and CEO of National Western Stock Show and Complex.

This is a two-year build that is set, as of right now, to make its grand opening at the 2025 National Western Stock Show. In the upcoming phases there will be a new rodeo arena with 10,000 seats, 40 suits, boxes and more. A new arena would help get the purse of the National Western PRCA Rodeo to $1 million.

The goal is to turn the home of the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo into a world class center for agriculture that truly celebrates western traditions.
