EQUITY PARTNERS

In 2013, five partners banded together to reimagine the home of the National Western Stock Show to support this great event and a broad range of other events, activities and research and educational endeavors for the next 100 years. In 2015, they unveiled their plans for the new, $856 million National Western Center.

In addition to the major partners listed here, others are involved in this effort to reshape and revitalize the National Western, including the Colorado Department of Transportation, the Regional Transportation District, and the surrounding Globeville, Elyria and Swansea neighborhoods.

Western Stock Show Association

Western Stock Show Association, a 501 c 3 organization which oversees the National Western Stock Show and the capital campaign.

The City and County of Denver backed a 2015 ballot initiative to provide $493 million of the city’s $668 million commitment to support the new National Western Center. The Center is the flagship of a nearly billion-dollar urban renewal project that’s one of the most ambitious in U.S. history. Asset sales, capital and wastewater funds, federal grants, on-site revenue and other sources will provide for the roughly $175.4 million balance. In addition, a Colorado Economic Development Commission grant awarded to Denver in December 2015 will bring another $121 million to the ambitious project, and the city has budgeted $2-$10 million in annual excise tax revenues for capital maintenance of the National Western Center and the Colorado Convention Center. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and other civic leaders strongly support the drive to position the National Western Center as a global leader in agricultural heritage and innovation.

Colorado State University (CSU), home to top-tier agricultural, animal sciences, veterinary medicine, natural resources and other programs, has committed $16 million the National Western Center’s new Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic. In addition, CSU is building a $200 million National Western Center campus that will include the CSU Water Building, the CSU Animal Health Building, and the CSU Center for Food & Agriculture.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science and History Colorado will play central roles in the education and outreach components of National Western Center programming.
